Deseret First - BYU vs Utah

To this "utes stink" character, where did I get all cocky? Where was I running my mouth? I was stating facts. BYU choked against FSU, FSU wasn’t the better team, and it was in Provo- I classify that as a choke. And congratulations, you are winning the duel this year. Are you going to hang your hat on that two years from now when the Duel doesn’t exist because Utah is in the PAC-10 while you are stuck in the MWC? If you go back through all my posts, I have argued points and statements, each fan base will argue their teams are better, I don’t get into that. This year, you guys are better; next year could be a different story. So I don’t waste my time. To the other guy, GOLF IS NOT A DIRECT HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION! That is why golf is not part of the duel. Utah participates in those other sports aside from M-Vball; they are just not included for reasons stated here before. Cougarinboston, come back, please, at least your points are thought out.

Why do you all refer to the BCS as the Bull Crap Series? I mean, I hate the BCS as much as the next guy but how does that discount what Utah did...TWICE(which, in reference to the BYU fan earlier-is not luck, if something happens once, that is luck, like, oh I don't know-BYU's national title, but I digress)? BYU fans were all about the BCS last year, you remember? Before you guys choked against FSU. You all thought you had a chance at the NC game. So, I just don't understand why YOU call it the Bull Crap Series. The ONE time you went undefeated, you got a NC. Unless you are standing up for teams that don't choke and finish undefeated, you should love the BCS because it is the only reason BYU is the last "mid-major" to win a national title. Oh, and I love the BYU fans pretending to be U fans and misspelling things, REAL mature…

Cougarinboston, this is the same question that has been covered here before. BYU fans can say all they want that Chris Hill refused to participate in the Duel unless Gymnastics, which Utah is a perennial power in, was included and other sports that BYU is a power in (track, CC, golf) were omitted. But the fact is they cannot be included because it is not a direct head-to-head competition. There are other teams in the meets/invitational that the two schools compete in. And, I ask again, if these were included, how would you score a victory? What if Utah had individuals win all the races but BYU had #'s 2-6 and won the team competition? Or, neither team won any race and BYU finished 7th in the meet and Utah 8th. Should BYU win that Duel competition because they finished one spot ahead of Utah? It is a victory for not finishing last? That is where the direct head-to-head comes in to play, because that first scenario could happen in gymnastics but there are only the two teams in that competition. This question/argument that BYU fans have gets old after a while. All the sports that both teams participate in, that are NCAA sanctioned and are BYU v. UTAH only are included in this duel series.

Who will be BYU's quarter back. Nelson looked pretty good as a freshman playing at Utah state. Heaps is the top recruit in the Nation. If Heaps doesn't get the job will he Stay in the so called quarter back factory? Cougar fans who will get the shot?

Congrats, BYU has more fans. Again, it is skewed. You show me a poll of ALL BYU fans, especially the out of Utah ones that shows their religion! That is why BYU has such a nationwide fan base, you could even make a case BYU has more fans across the country than a REAL big time team like USC. You can argue your stats and historical records all you want but don't bring up stadium size/capacity, school revenue, admission requirements and fan base as your points, the two schools cannot be compared on a level playing field other than sports. As for your Utah Basketball championship argument you were SO close to being correct. Utah lost to Kentucky in the NIT tourney and won the NCAA tourney after Arkansas' team had a car crash. And, in this "National Championship Argument" if we use your reasoning that NIT was the real NC, Utah won a NC in 1947.
